4-5 boiled potatoes
1 tsp cumin seeds *
1.5 tsp coriander powder *
1.5 tsp red chilli powder *
1/2 tsp dry mango powder *
1 tbsp cornflour *
A handful of coriander leaves, chopped *
Salt to taste *
1 bread slice
Semolina to coat
Oil to fry
Mash the potatoes till smooth. No lumps should be left.
Give the bread slice a whiz in the blender.
Mix the mash potato and bread crumbs together.
Add all starred (*) items to the mixture and knead so that all ingredients blend together.
Shape the tikkis / patties and roll in semolina.
Heat minimal oil in a pan and place the patties.
When one side is well done, turn and fry on the other side.
Serve hot with sauce or tamarind chutney.
